Do I need a new consumer unit?

If you are selling your house there is a high chance you will at least need an electrical installation condition report. If we come to your house and your consumer unit is old or considered unsafe, it is likely it would be unsatisfactory and a new consumer unit would need to be installed. This will then be issued with an electrical installation certificate which can be used instead of a condition report for the purpose of selling your house.

If you are having new building works or a new electrical circuit at your property and your consumer unit does not have RCD protection, you will require a new consumer unit in replacement of your current one or a separate one for just the new circuits. An electrical installation certificate will be issued with the works which can be used in the building sign off.
If your consumer unit has a ‘date of next inspection’ sticker on the front that has passed the recommended date, we can either do a new electrical installation condition report on your property or install a new consumer unit, depending on whether if we feel it needs to be replaced for safety.

Do I need my electrics checked?

The above is also applicable if you are selling your house.
If you have decided to rent out your property, you would need to have an electrical installation condition report to comply with landlord safety regulations.

When is the best time to contact?



TWK is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm but Tony tries to answer his phone outside of these hours too. His mobile is the best way to contact him during the hours above as he is normally working so cannot answer his landline. If for any reason he is unable to answer his phone, feel free to send him a text or email and he will respond ASAP.

What timescale can I expect work to be done within?

TWK can typically find time to visit up to one week after your first phone call. Unless the job is particularly large, we don’t need much more than one week notice. For more accuracy please feel free to contact us.
